This is a first impression with all title pages correct first impressions and uncorrected states of the text. Issue points include 'recal' instead of recall on page 84 Vol 1, 'their dress ' for her dress on page 162 of Vol 2. Vol.3 lacks the '3' in 103 of pagination . The i missing from 'nflexible' on page 193 and lacking inverted comma on 2nd line of page 195 , also 'skackled creature' for shackled creature on page 262.1000 copies of the first impression were issued most of these were taken up by lending libraries making this the rarest of Dickens' novels in the correct first edition.
Bound in in full black morocco by Bayntun with gilt decorations to spines and Dickens portrait and signature blocked to front and rear boards of each volume, a handsome set of the three volumes in first impressions.
