Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Published by Macmillan and Co. London 1866. First edition. Rebound by Sangorski and  Sutcliffe in full crimson morocco. Titles and decorated motifs blocked in gilt to spine. Alice holding pig and Cheshire Cat illustrations blocked to front and rear boards. Binding retains one of its original endpapers (the preferred colour pale blue)  tipped in at rear. This (the first non supressed edition) was published in December 1865 to catch the Christmas market but with the title page dated 1866 so that it would not seem dated if purchased in the following months.
