The Alice Through The Looking Glass Chessboard is faithfully re-created from Sir John Tenniel's original chessboard which the brand owns.

Working with the finest English artisans in their field, a limited edition  has been created and crafted by hand to the most exacting standards.

To faithfully recreate the illustrations a method was devised by  London’s top fine art silk screen printers to separate the white backgrounds and black outlines.

Each of the sixteen illustrations are meticulously hand painted by by noted watercolour artist Kate Hepburn.

The frame itself is gilded in 16.5 carat gold leaf by Ken Brookes an expert in Victorian framing methods and gilt finishing.

To create the playing board, Jonathan Walker hand-cuts each piece of marquetry in English Sycamore and Walnut before they are sanded back and varnished several times.

The chess pieces are hand carved and based on the original St. George pattern, faithfully recreating the St. George pieces that Tenniel based his illustrations on.

Each chessboard takes an average of eight weeks to complete.
